Miss World 2005 Iceland Unnur Birna
SANYA, Hainan, Dec. 11 (Xinhuanet) -- Iceland beauty Unnur Birna took the crown in the final round of contest of the Miss World Pageant, which closed Saturday night in Sanya City, south China's Hainan Province.
As one of the three most prestigious world beauty contests, the Miss World Pageant in the 55th running came to China for the third time. Beauties from 102 countries and regions entered this year's contest. This event was judged by a penal chaired by Miss World chairwoman Julia Morley and composed of nine former winners of Miss World.

Unnur Birna Vilhjalmsdottir was born in Reykjavik, but grew up in a small town called Seltjarnarnes. For the past year Unnur had been studying anthropology in university. She will commence her studies in law next fall as she plans to graduate as a lawyer as well as an anthropologist. Unnur said that her motto is "You are what you do" or "You are what you make." Miss Dafne from Mexico and Ingrid Marie from Porto Rico came in the second and the third in the Pageant, respectively.
The tropical resort of Sanya has hosted three sessions of the contest, which was broadcast live to 2 billion people in 207 countries and regions this year.
Miss Mexico, Dafne Molina Lona, 23,(left in the below picture) came runner-up while Miss Puerto Ricco, Inngrid Marie Rivera Santos, 22, was adjudged second runner-up in the two-hour-long gala, seen live by over two billion people worldwide.
